Russell’s memories……

I can remember the day Russell was born, he brought so much joy to us. His dad and I were so happy. Bringing children into this world was very important to us. This was going to be a great adventure, but one that only lasted for a while, then turned into a nightmare. It was too soon for them to have grown up, and entered this world filled with the unknown.

This past Sunday afternoon at Russell grave, Lowell and I were talking  about memories, as we always do, when we go to his grave. We reminisce all the time about Russell, and our other children. During the week, I often go to Russell’s grave a lone. This is really a good time for me to pray and grieve. I cannot travel that long distance as often as I would like to,  because of the high gas prices.

Thinking about Russell’s belongings, (the ones he left at home) we have so many memories of the things he liked. they bring a lot of joy to us. As I said before, most of the things he took with him, was either destroyed, or we believe sold.

The little teddy bear, he had when he was just a few months old, really brings back memories. It is tattered, and missing it’s nose and mouth, but it sets on the bed, and looks as if it is waiting for Russell’s return. His plastic piggy bank, still sets on the dresser. His baseball cards. his books, and awards. Oh…… sometimes I wonder what a waste of a precious life. At least the memories can never be taken away from us.

We finally got Russell’s college doploma replaced. I will not go into all of that again, as I have written about it in another story. The lady at the college was really happy to replace it for us. We are very grateful, to get this part of Russell’s life and hard work, replaced. It is heartbreaking, what happened to the original one. It is just like his dog, we believe they it meant nothing to the person who had them. Russell’s dog lays on top of Russell’s grave, buried in a horrible way, (we feel) just like Russell was.

I will be going into great detail about the life and death of Russell, in a forth coming book. No details will be left out.
